Comments

  1. I love the color of the trees in the fall, and of course hayrides, pumpkin patches, and apple cider from the nearby farm.

  2. Melissa Reinagel-Macri says:

My favorite part about fall in Centreville is taking my son to Cox Farms for our annual (6th!) picture of him sitting inside the barrels of pumpkins. It’s fun to spend the day together and I love having 6 years of pictures of him in the same spot :)

  3. I love taking the kids to Cox’s Farm each year. However this year we tried out the corn maze at Temple Hall and I think we just might have to make that an annual fall event. The boys enjoyed jumping on the giant “pillow” moonbounce, visiting with the animals, taking a ride in the cow train, the corn blaster and of course the actual corn maze!

  4. I love the fall festivals! This year Clifton Day is our favorite so far–the kids even got to spin their own pottery!

  5. We love the crisp air and marching band competitions — especially the Oakton Classic! These young musician athletes are incredible and they represent high schools from all over the Commonwealth.
Fall, with the splendor of colors, is the ONLY time to see these competitions.

  6. I love when it starts to get cooler and we can put on our jackets and go for a nature walk and pick all different color leaves. The girls love to pick out their own pumpkins from our local pumpkin patch to decorate for Halloween. They also love getting dressed up for our neighborhood Halloween parade.

  7. I love the coziness of sitting in front of a fire with family and friends either outside or inside. The trees look fantastic and of course Halloween and all of the decorations that come with it.

  8. I absolutely love running without overheating, the smell of grills at football games, and wineries!

  9. That’s a tough one. I really love the crisp, clean air touched with the smell of fires burning in fireplaces. It’s so fun for me to see my children celebrate Halloween by putting on their costumes, kicking through the leaves as we walk around to different houses… the delight of our neighbors as my kids show off their Fall finery, the thrill of checking out the different candy, and the sweet, satisfied smiles on their little faces after they’ve finally drifted off to sleep.

  10. I love so much about fall in Northern Va. I love that it reminds of my wedding day (10/22) and of the beautiful flowers I carried that day – deep red roses, mango calla lilies. I love walking around Burke Lake and taking in the views, the smells and the crispness of the air. I love creating a cozy home for my children, making soup that warms all of our insides, and cuddling up under a soft blanket.

  11. I love taking the kids to all the fall festivals and apple picking. I took my 2 boys to Marker Miller orchard and they had a blast picking and eating the apples, the playground and especially the apple cider donuts. I love the crisp cool air and the foliage changing colors. Next stop next week is Burke Nursery pumpkin playground. That is our favorite spot every year.

  12. Pumpkin patches, apple picking, fall festivals, cool air, leaves changing colors, our annual walk through Eleanor Lawrence Park, where the leaves are glorious colors, especially when they fall into the creek.

  13. Julie Freda says:

Football! It’s a great time for family and friends to get together. It’s the smell of chili and beer & bundling up in your favorite fall clothes. Fall in NOVA is also great because of the many festivals & the beauty of the trees. And when it’s time to do some work and rake up the leaves it turns into a family affair. The kids love to jump in big leaf piles, and I love to watch the smiles on their faces That’s fall!

  14. Katherine says:

Fall is my favorite season, and it seems each year there is much more to do! We love to spend afternoons outside and take an annual trip to a local pumpkin patch. This year we went to the Plains for the corn maze and had a great time! We are decorating for fall and Halloween and looking forward to a haunted silo tour in Franklin Farm, Boo at the Zoo, and the annual Halloween parade in the neighborhood.

  15. I love the changing colors of the leaves! :)

  16. I love to take the kids to Cox Farms–it’s become a family tradition. We were really pleased with the addition of a corn maze this year–it was just right for smaller kids.

  17. We love the Big Orange October Moon when it is full. As nights start earlier, it is FUN to take the whole family out for an evening walk in the cool crisp air filled with moonlight.

  18. I love taking my son apple picking.

  19. Fall is my favorite season of the year. Summer ends and the kids are finally in school. The lush greens we enjoy throughout the Spring and Summer suddenly and miraculously change to a beauty of dark oranges and bright vibrant reds. It is nature’s amazing work at its best. The smell of the air is different. It is no longer the scent of summer. It is the beginning of clean, cool scent that when inhaled almost chills your nasal passages. The crisp mornings let’s you know that sitting down with a hot cup of hot chocolate (coffee/tea) is just the thing to do after dropping the kids off at the bus stop. Those light sweaters which have been packed away since early Spring can finally be pulled out and worn. Those warm toasty socks are also ready to be worn around the house. Even though the season only lasts a few weeks, I look forward to it each and every year!!

  20. What don’t I love about the Fall? The cooler weather, the crisp air, Cox Farms, pumpkin carving, Halloween and my favorite thing of all… Thanksgiving.

  21. There are lots of things that I love about fall. It’s my favorite season. I love watching all the trees change into so many beautiful colors. I love going for a walk and feeling the crisp cool air and the leaves crunching below my feet. I love watching my kids make a big pile of leaves just to jump in them and start all over again. I love helping them make a jack-o-lantern while sipping some apple cider and enjoying a caramel apple. And last but not least, I love our annual trip to the pumpkin patch and taking a hayride.

  22. Apryl Shue says:

I love picking apples and then having a marathon baking and making applesauce. We got 52lbs this year! :)

  23. Alina Kraft says:

I am from germany and working here as an aupair.
i think fall is my favorite season here.
everything looks really pretty in all the different colors and the weather is really similar to germany too around this time of the year.
fall gives me so many opportunities to do crafts with my kids. we love collecting leaves and acorns and make it into something pretty like a fall dreamcatcher.
we do not have halloween in germany… well at least not as big its kind of swapping over but nobody takes it seriously.
so i am really excited aout that even though i still dont have a costume.
my family just took me apple picking and i hope we gonna go to the pumpkin patch soon.
I never carved a pumpkin so thats something i am really looking forward, too.
